Disney's D23 Expo is the biennial event that fans wait for with bated breath.   That is where Disney/Pixar reveals details, images and even video from many of their upcoming projects, which now includes Marvel and Star Wars.  On Friday the fourth D23 began and it started off with a bang!  We got the first teaser logo poster and further plot details for the highly anticipated next installment in the Toy Story franchise--Toy Story 4.

Chief creative officer of Pixar, Disney Animation and DisneyToon Studios--not to mention the original force behind bringing Toy Story to life, John Lasseter, spoke to the LA Times last November about the Pixar philosophy when it comes to sequels:

"A lot of people in the industry view us doing sequels as being for the business of it, but for us it's pure passion," said Lasseter, who directed the first two "Toy Story" films. "We only make sequels when we have a story that's as good as or better than the original.

"We don't just, because of the success of a film, automatically say we're going to do a sequel and then figure out what we're going to do."

During the same interview Lasseter confirmed that the general plot of Toy Story 4 would be a love story and was going to pick up right after the events of Toy Story 3, when the toys are passed on to a new child named Bonnie.  Now, thanks to press done for the D23 with CNBC's "Squawk on the Street", Lasseter confirms that Woody's love story will center around his relationship with Bo Peep.

"It's a love story with Woody and—and this is news—Bo Peep."

Toy Story 3 featured a very brief cameo from the beloved Bo Peep character, but her character's absence was glaring in the hit sequel to the mammoth Pixar franchise.  Bo, who is voiced by Annie Potts, was featured as Woody's love interest in the first two films.   The fourth Toy Story film is set to be released on June 16, 2017.

Toy Story has the distinct honor of being one of the few film franchises that has successively made more money with each passing film.  Lasseter, who is responsible for the story and scripting of all three past Toy Story films and the directing of the first two, has brought a new life to Disney that gave animated films a new quality and depth that was desperately needed.    His leadership brought to life a new era for Disney with films like Frozen and Wreck-It Ralph and television specials like Prep and Landing and Toy Story of Terror.   Lasseter has also fleshed out the Tinkerbell universe through a series direct to DVD films that have become extremely popular with kids.   He hasn't directed any films since Cars 2 in 2011, but fans will be excited to know that he'll be breaking his director's chair out of storage for Toy Story 4!
The convention also featured logo poster reveals for other upcoming Disney/Pixar films like Finding Dory (2016), Cars 3 and The Incredibles II.
